Lesson #2 - Submitting Your New Blog.

Ok, you have started your blog which is the first step in making money with it.  Hopefully, you wrote your first article.  In this lesson, I will go over how to submit your blog so that you can start getting readers.  (Please note:  Many blog directories require you to have a somewhat lengthy blog before they will accept your submission.  Your best bet is to wait until you have about ten articles written before submitting your blog if they require established blogs.)

You do not have to submit your blog to search engines.  Being that it is a Google Blogger Blogspot Blog, once your blog has information on it, Google will index it and it will appear in search results.  If there are similar blogs to yours, you may not appear high up in search results.

In this lesson, I will show you the first step you should take in order to move up in search engine rankings.  This step is to submit your blogspot to blog directories.  There are many directories to choose from and generally speaking, the more directories your blogspot is listed in, the more traffic you will receive. 

Below my posts, you will see a website badge for OnTopList.com.  This is one of many very good blog directories to list your weblog in.  OnTopList is free if you place their badge (like I did) on your blog.  By placing this badge on your blogspot blog, you have one great link which is great for moving up in search engine results. 

Remember to be patient.  It can take several weeks to several months before you appear in search engine results.  In the meantime, keep blogging away and follow this blog for more money making tips and how to optimize your blog.  Don't worry, if your blog is not getting any readers yet, it is probably because no one can find it. 

Here is a list of 25 very good blog directories that you should consider submitting your blog to.  It is by no means the entire list of blog directories but it does contain some of the best ones.

1. OnTopList.com - Free submission if you place their ad badge on your blogspot blog.  OnTopList offers multiple tools to promote your online presence.  Extremely fast response time.  This blog appeared in their search results one day after submission.
2. Blogger Directory - This directory is free and is "the ultimate directory" for blogger blogspot blogs.
3. Bloggeries- The human edited blog directory.  Costs $50.00 to $400 per year.
4. Blog Universe- Human edited with 83 current categories and thousands of links.
5. BlogUniverse- Free directory submission for blogs.
6. EatonWeb- The Blog Directory - Fee based submissions, excellent blog directory.
7. Globe of Blogs - a directory for basically non-commercial blogs.
8. Spillbean Blog Directory
9. Technorati
10. Blogarama Blog Directory
11. Blogflux
12. Bloggernity- "all in one blog directory"
13. Blog Catalog- a very nice well laid out picturesque blog directory.
14. Blog Digger- Blog Directory with search engine.  Free submission.
15. Blog Hints - Another nice Free blog directory with thousands of links.
16. Blogio- small blog directory that shows promise of growing.
17. Ice Rocket- blog directory and search capabilities.
18. Twingly - real nice blog search where you can "ping" your blog.  I will talk about pinging soon.
19. Blogging Fusion- Very nice Blog Directory with many categories and blogs.
20. Zimbio- wide range of blogs.  Here you can "ping" your blog for inclusion.
21. Tumblr- list your blogs in articles that appear on this website.  Worth checking out.
22. Feedjit - Really useful blog statistics that let you see who visits your blog. 
23. Blog Top Sites - "The original blog directory" with thousands of blogs. 
24. Allforblog - Free blog directory.
25. Flookie- blog directory

If you are really ambitious and want more traffic to your blog, there are many more sites you can submit your blog to.  For a huge list of blog directories, visit http://www.toprankblog.com/rss-blog-directories/.  They have compiled a humongous list of directories that can help you spread the word about your blog. 

The action steps for this lesson are:
1.  Check out some of the blog directories that I have listed.
2.  Submit your blog to at least one of them, preferably many of them. 
3.  Bookmark this page so that you can frequently come back and submit your blog to the listed directories.

Lesson #1 - Google Wants You to Blog!

Welcome back!  Hopefully, you have had a little time to think about what interests you and what you would like to write about.  The internet is huge so don't be discouraged if you think you have nothing to offer.  Write about a hobby, write about your school, write about what you do on weekends, just start writing!

Before we get started, I would like you to notice something about this blog.  And, for those who don't know what a blog is, it is short for weblog.  A weblog is like your online diary.  You don't have to add to it each day but the more articles you write, the more people will ultimately discover your blog. 

You can keep your blog very targeted like writing about your family's activities, or you can write about a subject that appeals to a large audience.  This blog I hope appeals to a large audience because I believe a lot of people would like to make money blogging.

The one thing I would like you to notice about this blog is that it currently is not monetized.  It has no commercial ads or any kind of links that would make money.  Why?  Because I am starting right at the beginning and will show you step-by-step how you can write a money- making blog (as of 2018 it is monetized and this blog has had many thousands of visitors.)

I am not talking about making a few pennies here and there.  Rather, if you are serious about making money and would like a sizable second or even first income then read on.

First things first, Google wants you to blog and wants you to succeed!  They have designed their blogs with Internet Marketers in mind.  Blogspot blogs are, in my opinion, the easiest to use and the easiest by far to set up to make money. 

Google is by far the largest and most successful search engine on the internet today.  This fact aids your blog.  When you monetize your blog to benefit yourself and Google, Google will shoot your blog up in search results.  I will show you step by step how to get your blog way up in search results which will get you quite a few readers. 

Remember, to maximize the benefits of my lessons, please start at the beginning.  If you skip lessons, you may miss some important information even though you may think you know it already. 

Google blogspot blogs are totally free.  They are free because Google would like you to advertise on your blog and make money.  It is mutually beneficial.  Google gets to advertise on your blog to your readers and you can make money by them doing so. 

When Google places relevant ads on your blog (with your consent of course) the ads are part of the Google Adsense program.  Adsense is only one way of many to make money on your blog.  Generally speaking, it works like this.  Let's say for example that your blog is about Harley Davidson motorcycles.  You write about softtail motorcycles, bike rallies, biker chicks, saddle bags, or anything else concerning Harley's.

When a visitor comes to your blogspot, they see an ad for "Biker sunglasses".  Your visitor clicks on the ad and you just made a little bit of money.  That is all there is to Adsense. 

You did not have to sell anything.  You did not have to take any phone calls.  You did not have to do anything except open up a Google Adsense account and allow Google to put ads on your blog. 

I am going to be totally honest with you.  There are only a couple Internet Marketers I know of that are getting rich off of Adsense ads.  Some people do make $10,000 to $30,000 monthly just from Adsense ads but please don't expect that much.  Most people make far less than this.  Now, don't get me wrong.  I believe in setting high goals and then trying to achieve them.  But, there are easier ways of making money online, in my opinion, than just utilizing Adsense.  Anyway, it does not hurt to place Adsense ads on your blog until you replace them with better ways of making money. 

Your action step for this lesson is to get started.  Sign up for a blogger blogspot blog and write your first blog.  Make sure you publish it.  When choosing a name for your blog try to get as specific as possible.  For example, using the Harley example above, I would name it something like: the harley riders.  Google will then adjust the name to index it as a blog.  It would read something like: htp://theharleyriders.blogspot.com.  I purposely corrupted this link in case there really is a harley riders blog which there probably is.

Hi, my name is Jeff Tombaugh and I make money online.  In this blog, I am going to teach you how you can make money blogging.  You can start making money at little or no cost and I am going to show you how.  Before we get started, I want you to do just one simple thing:  think about your favorite subject and then start a blogger blogspot blog. 

The subject of your first blog is not really that important.  What matters, is that you like the subject well enough to write frequently about it.  It can be about cars, guns, hunting, sewing, crafting, video games, etc. etc.  In fact, the list is endless.

1.  Think about what interests you and what you can write about.
2.  Start a blogger blogspot blog for FREE and write your first post. 
3.  Follow this blog if you want to make money. 
4.  Post a comment below telling the world what the name of your new blog is.
